Experts say Dorset caravan sites are 'second to none'

Dorset caravan sites 'second to none'

The views that Caravanners get when staying at caravan sites in Dorset are pretty spectacular, one expert has revealed.

Jessica Thornton, tourism marketing officer at West Dorset District Council, explained that many of the locations overlook the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, which is a sight people will not forget.

She said that visitors will benefit from "sweeping cliff top walks and spectacular fossil strewn beaches", while those who stay further inland have "some of England's best countryside full of river valleys and rolling hills".

Dorset is well known for its many outdoor activities, Ms Thornton indicated, with walking, cycling and even wildlife spotting on holidaymakers' doorsteps.
Many people are opting to explore the UK through shorter caravanning holidays rather than extended breaks, new figures have revealed.
Over the past five years, the number of people taking a traditional two-week holiday has declined by 18 per cent, the National Trust found.
In 2011, 51 per cent of those questioned revealed that they are not planning on taking a fortnight's break as they opt for multiple smaller vacations throughout the year.
There is likely to be an increase in the number of people taking caravanning holidays this year, one Alicia Dunne, deputy director general of the National Caravan Council, has predicted.
Recent caravan shows in Manchester and Glasgow have revealed that there is still a strong demand among avid caravanners and those who have not tried it before, she indicated.
Ms Dunne highlighted that caravan holiday bookings are expected to be  up on last year's record figures.
"There is enormous competition for the caravan tourist 's pound and that means that the UK tourism industry has to keep investing, not just in infrastructure but also in other elements," she added.
In recent weeks, the expert noted that caravanning holidays offer great value for money, especially in light of all the travel disruption experienced by holidaymakers over the past year.
Static holiday park owners, have reported a rise in sales of static caravans to sale-and-leaseback investors or buyers who want a more affordable second home.
In some areas, such as Cornwall and Wales, sales of luxury static caravans, which can cost up to £80,000, have more than doubled.
Haven put the increase down to the "staycation effect", as holidaymakers shun overseas breaks for cheaper holidays at home.
It said that buyers were increasingly viewing their purchase as an alternative to relatively poor returns on savings accounts.
Investors buy the homes, which typically cost about £18,000 to £19,000, and can then lease them back for use by the holiday park.
Haven Holidays say that caravans can be let for between £500 and £1,000 in the peak August holiday season.
Most of Haven’s customers live less than two hours' drive from their holiday home, the company said.
Blackmore Vale Leisure are one of the extremely few dealers that can site on select holiday parks saving buyers tens of thousands of pounds on the same static if they were to buy them ready sited on a static holiday park. Our Atlas Florida is a brilliant example which can sleep up to 8 and cna be used all year round with double glazing and central heating.
